Dont work

App does not work. a7s files with 50 fps goes to black videos. Bad

Don

They said that an update will come on monday 6th….waiting

Works very well for me

The app delivers basic functionality in converting XML files created for FCPX in Premiere Pro CS6: all basic edits of video and sound are converted smoothly and quickly, making the transfer of projects into FCPX 10.1.2 painless and efficient. Kudos to the developers! If, however, you expect all your effects, color corrections, titles generated in PP CS6 etc to be converted: expect to be disappointed. The developers are aware of this, as each conversion is accompanied by a detailed report of features NOT exported. All in all this app gives you what you pay for. For 10 bucks you can’t reasonably expect more. I personally think that is a worthwhile investment and unhesitatingly recommend it.

Coming Along Nicely

There are a few annoying bugs which can prevent this app from working, but once you get everything sorted out it does exactly what it says it does. When I import directly into Final Cut Pro X it complains there are duplicate projects. I meticulously searched and deleted any, but the issue remains. I bypassed the problem by using the tool to export a Final Cut X XML and then I imported that into FCPX. That worked well. I was able to transfer a large 2hr sequence into FCPX using this tool. Once I got past the few hurdles and imported everything, it was great. Audio tracks were in sync, and it was a generally painless process. There is one issue, the new project in FCPX will begin importing all your video clips into a new Event Folder, doubling all of your files. If you are comfortable with this, once it is finished you could probably delete the originals to save space, but be careful. Also, there is no option, as far as I can tell, to choose where it creates the event in FCPX, so in addition to doubling your files, it may move them to another disk. In all, its a great peice of software, especially considering this is a 1.0 version.

Very Impressed - Highly recommended!

Although Final Cut Pro 7 has its place in our workflow, there are some projects which can be edited much faster in FCPX. This software worked perfectly for most of our projects and 90+% on some of our projects which are very unique in how complicated their timelines are. With those projects it takes us less than an hour to bring it all up to 100% to jump over to our FCPX workflow. I had an issue with a previous version and they were very quick to respond and help with a solution. I cant imagine a $100 or even a $1000 piece of software doing much more than this one. Maybe you guys could work on a FCPX to Motion5 to FCPX software? lol If you prefer or have some projects which can be edited faster in FCPX I highly recommend this app. (M)

I have yet to successfully convert a single real-world project with this application...

.. except for tests that are very trivial.

This is a scam!

Dont waste your money on that crap! It will not convert your xml files properly, even from the most basic and straight forward timelines from FCP7. I carefully followed the instructions provided on their website, and I just never got anywhere in the end... Waste of my time and my money… And Apple is sure not better by not providing any converter. How are we supposed to migrate from 7 to X!!

TOTAL FAIL

My first attempt at importing a sequence from Final Cut Pro 7 into Final Cut X was a TOTAL FAIL using this software. Everything was mashed up, transitions imported incorrectly, audio out of sync. Terrible.

Works for me

Does exactly what is says it does! Ive successfuly translated some fairly complex FCP7 projects to FCPX using this software. Aside from non-compatable generators and effects, all is there. Definity a huge time-saver over the alternative - which would be rebuilding the sequences from scratch!

Its working!

Its the only solution ive found, and its fully functional! Great work, guys! The price is reasonable.

Not working

It is cheap but it does not wotk! Saved e 5 min vid to xml and opened in 7toX: if I save a FCPX conformed xml file no file will be created in I send to FCPX after 10 hour of progress bar nothing. NOT WORKING

FYI: No FCP 6 support

Does not work with XML version 4 (aka the latest version availabe in FCP 6) in case anyone was interested. Yeah, I know, its called 7toX, but almost every other major plugin developer provides support for 6 because 7 was so similar - hence me never paying for the upgrade. Figured Id take the 10 buck gamble here though.

Must-Have Software for FCP7 > FCPX Shops

This product works even better than advertised. We would have been happy just to get basic timelines moved over, but are finding that 7toX carries over a really surprising amount of data (volume keyframes, FCP effects, transitions). The only thing it consistently cant handle (through NO fault of its own) is round-tripped embedded Motion content. Outstanding work, an absolutely must-have piece of software for any shop upgrading from FCP7 to FCPX.

Useless to me

Bought this with the intent to convert a single, specific FCP 7 project to FCP X. Ran it through and got the cryptic error message "There was a problem converting this XML. Please choose another XML file exported from Final Cut Pro 7." Really? What kind of lazy programmer thinks that is an effective message? At least point me to where the problem might be so I can try to fix it. Instead Im stuck with trying to tinker with a million different variables to try to get it to work. I suspect this software was rushed out to coincide with the release of FCPx 10.0.3.

A life saver!!!!

A huge thank you to Greg and Philip from Assisted Editing! You guys may have done the single most important thing for a successful future of FCP X!

Hit and Miss

I tried about 10 projects three seemed to come in more or less intact, it doesnt seem to be able to handle things I created in After Effects (animated titles) and rendered to Quicktime Movies and then placed in FCP 7 and none of the cross dissolves created in FCP 7 came across either, nor did still image portions created in FCP 7. Im pleased someone is working on this conundrum but its still got some rough edges. Some projects only had portions show up of more or less straight clips which were the same as those shot at the same time as those which did show up when ported to FCP X, that is a bit of a mystery to me. The timeline on those projects would have large sections of just black once imported into FCP X with a few clips here and there which would show up. Im using a 12 core with 32 gigs of ram so the process was pretty much instantanious which was nice to see. The projects were all under 5 minutes in running time I havent tried any longer pieces. Many straight unanimated titles which fade in and out created in FCP 7 came thru but not consistently in all projects. For $10 its priced fairly

Doesnt work.

Tried this on several simple timelines but keep getting the same error message everyone else with a problem is getting, "There was a problem converting this XML, please choose another XML file converted from Final Cut 7". Hopefully there will be an update soon as this program has a lot of potential but just needs some more fixes before its truley ready for the masses. Good attempt though. Save your money for now.

Someone did what Apple could not

Apple should be ashamed it took a third party to make this happen. Even if they "worked" with this company this should have come direct from Apple, built directly into FCPX.

Awesome simple App that works!

Bought thos App so I could transfer my older FCP7 files to FCPX… works, great… I had to make a few slight adjustments once it was transferred, but no big deal, Im just ecstatic that I can do it with ease and not have to re-create the older files. Yes… Buy it, youll be happy you did.

Has issues, but Ive found a workaround

When translating a sequence exported from Final Cut Pro 7 (FCP7), I received this error: There was a problem converting this XML Please choose another XML file exported from Final Cut Pro 7. I determined that the problem occurs when you have cross dissolves on events in the V2 track in the FCP7 sequence. Once I deleted the cross dissolve transitions on all events in the V2 track, the translation worked. Cross dissolves are OK to leave in the V1 track. Hopefully this information is helpful to other users experiencing issues.
