Worked on my FCP 6 projects.

Works on my FCP 6 (XML version 4) projects. Very satisfied. Even though it is not perfect, I did not expect it to be. It does the job.

There was a problem converting this XML

Please choose another XML file exported from Final Cut Pro 7…. WHAT!?

This app does not work for me.

This app does not cross over from FCP 7 to X in a way that is helpful for me.

Works as advertised.

I think I may be the only professional editor I know thats given any serious time to FCPX, but after the 10.0.3 update I felt that Apple was headed in the right direction. I downloaded this app mostly just to see how it would go about transferring in my old projects (which are mostly completed, incomplete ones will be finished in FCP7) and I have to admit that it did an excellent job. The first piece that I threw at it was a short film that I did for a horror film festival and it worked like a charm. This certainly isnt a good reason to get rid of FCP7, but its a great way to see how your old projects would translate into the magnetic timeline. A lot of things do not make a perfect transition, i.e. text and certain effects, but these can easily be fixed manually.

needs work, especially at the price.

I had to remove all dissolves from a 3 minute sequence to get this to work. audio and picture. I inherited a project from someone who had applied a bunch. anyhow. import errors into FCPx please fix

Incredible!

Id pay a lot more for an application this good. If the biggest obstacle to using FCPX was the inability to import FCP7 projects, that obstacle has been, for my work, removed. Get this application!

Simple, does the job without fuss

This little app just works, I havent had any trouble. The two apps are just so very different - philosophically and technologically - that I think any translation at all is remarkable. All I want is my basic timeline, with audio and levels set - it does that just fine. 7toX is sure to be a cornerstone of our workflow.

I like it.. I love it…

Final Cut X is crashing every time it try to open the XML. Dont know what to do.. NOT ANY MORE. with the last update all my Final Cut 7 files are now open in Final Cut X.. Thank you guys…

Must Have Add On for FCP X

This app makes the transition to FCP X possible for those of us who have been working in FCP Studio for the past several years. I was able to move a major documentary project with hundreds of clips and 17 sequences into FCP X without a hitch. They even include clip markers now in v1.0.2! Plus, these guys are *responsive* - I have sent them several emails with questions about the app and feature requests and they have always responded within a day or so and seem very cordial. Great developers, great app.

It works!

I had started a project in FCP 7 that needed b-rolling, transitions and color correction, and I was getting frustrated with how slow FCP 7 is vs. FCP X. So I exported an XML, converted it in 7toX and imported it into FCP X within 15 minutes or so. Not too bad of time! Everything except Title 3D transferred over, which is pretty awesome. No problems otherwise.

FANTASTIC

The developer has done a fantastic job. This is the best app for Final Cut Pro X and better yet, its the least expensive. This is a must have for every FCP X user.

Works!

Works great, except for the stated issues with Motion projects, etc. For me, its still a lot of work to reach a finished project in FCPX using this, but at least it does a lot of the leg work.

Doesnt Work!

This app only worked one time. I cannot get it to send my Premier Pro CS 5.5 XML files to Final Cut Pro. If you have these systems save your money and wait for a developer who can deliever on what he promises you. Personally I think we should all be refunded since we sold misleading information.

Ok… It actually works! FCP 6 to FCP X

Ok great news. Today I actually read the directions, and the translation program worked like a charm. I migrated a friends rather long(60mins+) with a zillion clips and transitions in an FCP 5 project into FCP 6 and then throught this product into FCPX. I think my biggest problem was just getting used to the new FCPX. I wasnt used to how it manages events separate from projects. Anyway, dont worry about it, it just works, and there were very few glitches. Just a couple of frame crop errors that were easily adjusted in FCPX. Thanks Rick Pickford

Not a smooth process

Audio is all over the place the footage isnt so bad but it aint good the zooms are a mess Im using V1 and 2 for video and 6 chnnls of audio ...its pretty much cut in fcp7 ....all i wanted to do was play with color and transitions in x ...I am now a day behind and going back to fcp7 Out of troubleshooting time at this point and still have a deadline ...bummed

This software does not work.

Upon purchasing and attmepting to transfer sequences with MERGED audio files from various FCP 7 timelines to FCPX the softare repeatedly failed and the sequences would show up wildly out of sync in FCP X. These are obviously essential to everything I edit and this software (which transfers single clips fine (but whats the point of paying for a software to do that) is therefore non functioning and useless. What is worse upon emailing for advice or feedback over 10 days ago, I still have not heard a peep. Save your money if you are a pro.

Doesnt Work

First try on a simple project. Fail. Waste of money.

Dont count on it

For the simplest edits, it works. Something with a 100 edits borks every time. Why would apple rely on an app developer to input its prior files? Insane.

BEWARE before purchasing

I hastily bought this program, hearing about it as a good solution to translate FCP7 projects to FCPX. To my dismay, as soon as I opened "7toX", it asked me to open an XML file. XML file?! I have old FCP7 PROJECT files (.fcp) on old drives that I need to update to FCPX. To create an XML file from my FCP7 project files, I need…. guess what? Final Cut Pro 7 to create those files! Kind of a Catch-22 here. In order to use this program to translate FCP7 Projects to FCPX projects, you need both programs! The problem? You cant have both programs installed on the same machine at the same time unless you re-partition your harddrive. So bottom line…. as well-intentioned as "7toX" is, it sure doesnt help me.

Works as advertised

HodgesHodges84 you are not correct. You dont need to repartition to be able to run FCP7 and X on the same computer. You just cant have both programmes open at the same time. Open FCP7, export your project as an XML file, close FCP7. Open 7toX, select the XML file...it will do the rest for you. The conversion is very good if not quite perfect. 7toX has greatly helped me to fully make the transition from 7 to X far faster than I could otherwise have done.
