Read this if you’ve had FCP7 problems
I ran into many problems importing the XMLs into FCP 7.
Today I tried importing into Premiere Pro and got much vbetter results.
It seems many of the problms I’ve had were due to limitations in FCP7s XML import.
One key problem has to do with audio clips.
- FCPX allows sub-frame editing of audio clips.
- On export, Xto7 does not round the in-out values to nearest frame.
- Premiere Pro is able to import this without a hitch.
- FCP 7 truncates the clips and generally makes a mess.
As the program is called Xto7 (and not X to XML), I think Assited Editing should fix that.
In summary, it’s far from perfect, but it is the best (and only…) solution available for this kind of workflow.
